Welcome to the Pine Creek Lodge & Café Website

Owners and brothers Dan and Ned Shapiro welcome you to beautiful Pine Creek, Montana: nestled in the heart of aptly-named Paradise Valley and the foothills of the Absaroka Mountains, 1 mile from the outstanding fishing of the Yellowstone River, 10 miles south of the inviting community of Livingston, 2 miles from the easily accessed hiking trail to scenic Pine Creek Falls, 15 miles north of the soaking opportunities at Chico Hot Springs, and 45 miles north of America's first National Park: Yellowstone. Pine Creek is not just a summer wonderland; big-game and bird hunting, cross-country skiing, and snow shoeing provide recreational opportunities in the fall and winter months as well. We think you'll find that Pine Creek provides a well-situated launching-off point for nearly any type of outdoor vacation adventure, not to mention a cozy retreat where you can enjoy an excellent dinner or romantic weekend getaway.

The Pine Creek Lodge and Cafe features 5 creek-side cabins available for nightly summer rentals, an acclaimed restaurant featuring a beer and wine bar and eclectic menu with homemade soups that change daily, live weekend music and entertainment on our outdoor stage throughout the summer and indoors in the winter, and a small retail space with snacks, sodas, and a variety of merchandise bearing Pine Creek's logo.

The atmosphere at Pine Creek is casual, family-oriented, and pet friendly. Kids are able to put pent-up energy from long car trips to good use at Pine Creek, whether it's splashing around in the creek by the café, playing chase in the yard, or dancing their hearts out to good live music. Families can walk or drive the short distance to the Yellowstone River for a refreshing swim in its cool waters or to the local KOA's heated indoor pool, which can be used by non-guests for a nominal fee. (They also have a small grocery and gift store.) Pets are welcome in our cabins and at our summer barbecues, provided they are well behaved and their owners clean up after them.

Please note that out of respect for our neighbors and local landowners, Pine Creek asks all of its guests to observe "No Trespassing" signs and private property boundaries. To help preserve our beautiful natural surroundings, we also ask guests to please dispose of trash and pet waste in the receptacles we provide.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Directions

When looking for Pine Creek, the main thing you should keep an eye out for is our historic 20 foot tall neon sign with its ever-changing marquee.  This sign stood sentinel at Bozeman’s Alpine Hotel for many decades before the business was closed several years ago. Chef Shapiro salvaged the sign and had it retrofitted with Pine Creek’s name.

From Interstate-90 (traveling east or west):  Take Exit 333 and make a left onto Highway 89 (Park Street in Livingston).  Head south (toward Yellowstone National Park) for 3.2 miles.  Turn left onto East River Road (MT Hwy 540) and travel 6.9 miles south.  You will see the cafe on your left just past the 35mph sign that marks the entrance to our little community of Pine Creek.  If you pass Pine Creek Road on your right, then you have gone too far.

From Yellowstone National Park/ Gardiner, Montana: Take Highway 89 (2nd St. in Gardiner) north for 43.2 miles.  Turn right onto Pine Creek Road between mile markers 42 & 43.  (Look for the yellow KOA billboard at the turn.)  Travel 2.4 miles to the T-intersection where Pine Creek Road ends at East River Road.  Turn left and Pine Creek will be immediately on your right (less than .1 mile & just before the road curves left).  If you pass the white Pine Creek schoolhouse on your left, then you have gone too far.

From Chico Hot Springs Resort:  Take Chico Road 1.5 miles to the T-intersection where it ends at East River Road.  Make a right onto East River Road and travel north 12.7 miles to the cafe.  You will slow to 35mph to enter the hamlet of Pine Creek.  Pass the Pine Creek Methodist Church on your right and Pine Creek Road on your left.  We are less than .1 mile past Pine Creek Road on the right.  If you pass the white Pine Creek schoolhouse on your left, then you have gone too far.
